  • Advances in Research of Cichorium intybus L. in Preventing and Treating Hyperuricemia

    With the rapid social development, people's living habits have undergone great changes. Fast-paced lifestyles have led to an increase in people's unhealthy living habits, especially in diet, such as unreasonable dietary structure and irregular diet. In this situation, the number of patients with hyperuricemia has also been increasing, and the hyperuricemia trend is becoming younger. Clinically, western medicines for lowering uric acid are commonly used, which are not safe and have the risk of injuring the liver and kidney functions. Cichorium intybus L. as a medicinal and edible material, plays an important role in treating the hyperuricemia. Recent studies have shown that C. intybus has significant effect of lowering the uric acid. This paper reviewed the experimental studies of C. intybus inhibiting uric acid production and promoting uric acid excretion, discussed its therapeutic effects and action mechanism, to provide a reference for the development of C. intybus drugs for lowering the uric acid.

  • Analysis of Action Mechanism of Fuxin Decoction on Heart Failure Based on Network Pharmacology

    [Objectives] The purpose was to analyze and predict the mechanism of Fuxin decoction in the treatment of heart failure based on network pharmacology. [Methods] Relevant tools and methods of network pharmacology were used to obtain the active ingredients and action targets of Fuxin decoction and action targets of heart failure, find out the key targets and core clusters of Fuxin decoction on heart failure, and analyze related signal pathways, to explore possible molecular mechanisms. [Results] A total of 53 active ingredients and 224 action targets of Fuxin decoction, 1 010 heart failure-related target genes, and 94 drug-disease directly acting targets were obtained. From the PPI network constructed, 225 key targets and a core cluster composed of 56 nodes and 297 interactions were screened out. Association with tumors, glutamate synapse and other related pathways and related genes such as adenylate cyclase and MAPK were known. [Conclusions] The mechanism of Fuxin decoction in the treatment of heart failure is related to βARs-G protein-adenylate cyclase, PI3 K-Akt signaling pathway and HSP90, MAPK and other proteins.

  • Research Progress on Chemical Constituents and Pharmacological Effect of Semen Cuscutae

    In this paper, by summarizing the literature in recent years, it is considered that the chemical constituents of S. cuscutae are mainly flavonoids. The main pharmacological effects include improving osteoporosis, improving ovarian function, improving drug-induced reproductive toxicity, regulating spermatogenic cell apoptosis, resisting liver fibrosis, resisting inflammation, improving cardiovascular function, protecting fetus, protecting synapses and so on. By summarizing the chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of S. cuscutae, this study aims to better study the mechanism of anti-osteoporosis based on the fact that S. cuscutae has the function of tonifying liver and kidney.

  • A Textual Research on Materia Medica of Origin of Orthonym and Synonym of Cuscutae Semen

    A textual research on materia medica of origin of orthonym and synonym of Cuscutae Semen and synonym of Nu Luo was conducted in this study, and the trade name, regional synonym and nickname of Cuscutae Semen were reviewed. The records of orthonym and synonym of Cuscutae Semen in the past dynasties, and the first published literature and writing date of orthodox and synonym were summarized. The textual research showed that Nu Luo and Cuscutae Semen were not the same plant, which had positive significance for the identification of the origin and modern application of Cuscutae Semen.

  • Detection of Volatile Components in Leaves and Bark of Picrasma quassioides by GC-MS

    [Objectives] This study aimed to analyze the volatile oil components of the leaves and bark of Picrasma quassioides. [Methods] The volatile oils in the leaves and bark of P. quassioides were extracted using steam distillation(SD) method and identified with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). Based on the mass spectrum database(NiST08), combined with artificial spectrum analysis, referring to relevant literature, the base peak and relative abundance were compared to identify the volatile components of the leaves and bark. The relative content of each component was determined by peak area normalization method. [Results] A total of 24 and 23 chemical components were identified in the leaves and bark of P. quassioides, respectively, including 11 common components. [Conclusions] Leaf and bark are different tissues. They contain different volatile chemical components, of which the contents vary greatly. They should be treated differently in the further research and development of P. quassioides resources.

  • Quality Characteristics and FTIR Research of Amorphophallus konjac K.Koch Cultivated under Forest

    [Objectives] This study aimed to evaluate the quality characteristics of Amorphophallus konjac K. Koch and study the tubers of A. konjac K. Koch by infrared spectroscopy and second derivative method. [Methods] Referring to industrial standards of China for agriculture and related documents, the quality characteristics of A. konjac K. Koch were determined; and using potassium bromide tableting method and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, the infrared spectrum and second derivative spectrum of A. konjac K. Koch were studied. [Results] The drying rate, total ash content, acid-insoluble ash content, water extract content, ethanol extract content and crude polysaccharide content of A. konjac K. Koch were above 14.00%, 4.57%-11.78%, 0.04%-4.87%, 26.31%-36.98%, 2.20%-7.95% and 40.25%-61.18%, respectively. The infrared spectra of A. konjac K. Koch of different origins were relatively close, and the differences were mainly in peak intensity. The peaks at 1 642, 1 322, 1 241, 1 154, 1 022, 863, 770 and 576 cm~(-1) were the main specific peaks. The main component was konjac glucomannan. [Conclusions] FTIR technology is simple and quick, and is suitable for quality control and sample identification of A. konjac K. Koch. This provides a scientific basis for the quality control and comprehensive utilization of A. konjac K. Koch cultivated under forest.

  • Effect of Seedling Quality on Growth,Yield and Quality of Angelica sinensis

    [Objectives] Aiming at the problems of high bolting rate, low yield and poor quality traits in the production of Angelica sinensis in Qinghai Province, this study investigated the effect of seeding quality on the growth, yield and quality of A. sinensis. [Methods] Field experiments were carried out in five aspects, including different seedling shapes, different seedling sizes, different seedling ages, different seedling raising methods, and different seedling sources. The effect of seedling quality on the survival rate, bolting rate, main quality traits(root length, root fresh weight, root head thickness, root head length) and yield of A. sinensis was investigated. [Results] The seedlings, 0.2-0.5 cm in diameter, 100-110-d old, raised from three-year-old provenance in cultivated land by conventional method, were more preferable, and their survival rate was high, bolting rate was low, yield is high, and quality traits performed well.   • Pharmacognostic Identification of Euphorbia maculata L. and Its Related Species

    [Objectives] To make pharmacognostic identification of Euphorbia maculata L. and its related species. [Methods] The classical pharmacognostic identification method was adopted. [Results] The four main medicinal materials are very similar, the fluff can be seen in E. maculata and Euphorbia thymifolia L., but not in Euphorbia prostrata Ait. and Euphorbia taihsiensis(Chaw et Koutnik) Oudejians; the tissue structure is basically the same; except for E. taihsiensis without non-glandular hairs, the powder has secretory cells, laticifers, cells, calcium oxalate crystals, fibers, vessels, and seed coat fragments. Through ultrasonic extraction with 80% ethanol, extraction with isobutanol, extending with chloroform∶ethyl acetate∶formic acid(5∶3∶0.3), developing color with 3% aluminum trichloride ethanol solution, under ultraviolet light(365 nm), the fluorescent spots of the same color appeared on the corresponding position of the chromatogram of the reference substance(quercetin, kaempferol). [Conclusions] It is not easy to distinguish the four medicinal materials by character identification and microscopic identification, while the thin-layer chromatography(TLC) is more reliable.

  • Optimization of the Ultrasonic-assisted Extraction Process for Total Flavonoids in Primula sikkimensis Hook. by Response Surface Methodology

    [Objectives] To optimize the ultrasonic-assisted extraction process for total flavonoids in Primula sikkimensis Hook. [Methods] The effects of ethanol volume fraction, extraction time, extraction temperature, ultrasonic time and solid-to-liquid ratio on the yield of total flavonoids were investigated by single factor method, and the extraction process for total flavonoids in P. sikkimensis was optimized by Box-Behnken experimental design. [Results] The optimal extraction process for total flavonoids in P. sikkimensis was ethanol volume fraction 45%, extraction time 29 min, extraction temperature 80 ℃, solid-to-liquid 1∶40(g/mL) and ultrasonic time 10 min. Under such conditions, the average yield of total flavonoids in P. sikkimensis was 3.09%. [Conclusions] The optimized extraction process is simple and feasible, and is expected to provide a reference for the extraction of total flavonoids in P. sikkimensis.

  • Establishment of the Determination Methods of Total Anthraquinone Content in Different Processed Products of Rhubarb

    [Objectives] Ultraviolet spectrophotometry was established for the determination of total content of anthraquinone in different processed products of rhubarb. [Methods] Emodin was used as the control substance, and its color was developed by magnesium acetate methanol solution with the concentration of 1%, the absorbance was determined at the wavelength of 516 nm, the content of total anthraquinone in different processed products of rhubarb was determined to compare the content differences. [Results] The regression equation was y=0.045 2x+0.001 5, R~2=0.999 1. Emodin had a good linear range in the concentration of 0.98-23.52 μg/mL, with high accuracy, good repeatability and stable detection results. This method revealed the content changes of total anthraquinone in rhubarb before and after processing. [Conclusions] This method could be used as the quality control method of different processed products of rhubarb, and provided reference for the comprehensive development and utilization of rhubarb resources in the future.

  • Comparison of Different Processing Methods of Ziziphus jujuba Mill.

    [Objectives] To study and compare the processing methods of Ziziphus jujuba Mill. [Methods] Z. jujuba was processed by seven methods: cleaning, yellowish frying, burnt frying, carbonized frying, moistening by hot sand, steaming, and boiling. Ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry was used to determine the content of total flavonoids in each processed Z. jujuba. [Results] The content of total flavonoids measured by various processing methods was different. The content of total flavonoids in the processed Z. jujuba by moistening by hot sand was relatively high and the absorption peak spectrum was almost the same as that of the cleaned processed Z. jujuba and the rutin reference substance. [Conclusions] The moistening by hot sand is the optimal method for processing of Z. jujuba.

  • Extraction Technology and Content Determination of Total Flavonoids from Traditional Chinese Medicine Yipichou

    [Objectives] The research aimed to optimize extraction technology of total flavonoids from traditional Chinese medicine Yipichou, and establish methods of extraction and content determination of its medicinal materials. [Methods] Using reflux extraction method, total flavonoids of Yipichou were extracted. Via single-factor test, influence of extraction method, extraction solvent concentration, extraction volume and extraction time on content of total flavonoids from Yipichou was inspected. Using orthogonal test, extraction conditions were optimized, and optimal extraction technology of total flavonoids from Yipichou was obtained. [Results] The optimal extraction process of total flavonoids from Yipichou was as below: 70% of methanol, 1∶40 of solid-liquid ratio, and 1.0 h of reflux extraction time. [Conclusions] In the test, total flavonoids were extracted from Yipichou, with better repeatability, and stable and feasible method, which could provide certain scientific basis for studying quality standard of this medicinal material.

  • Study on the Technological Conditions of Ultrasound-assisted Extraction of Polysaccharides from Ajuga ciliata Bunge(Fujian)

    [Objectives] To determine the optimum technological conditions of ultrasound-assisted extraction of polysaccharides from Ajuga ciliata Bunge. [Methods] In this study, Ajuga ciliata Bunge was used as raw material, and an orthogonal experiment was designed based on the single factor experiment to investigate the effects of ultrasonic time, solid-liquid ratio, ultrasonic temperature and ultrasonic power on the extraction rate of polysaccharides from A. ciliata Bunge(Fujian). Range analysis, variance analysis and SSR test of significant differences between groups were carried out with SPSS 20.0, and the test results were verified. [Results] Under the conditions of ultrasonic temperature of 85 ℃, ultrasonic time of 80 min, solid-liquid ratio of 1∶15 g/mL and ultrasonic power of 500 W, the yield of polysaccharides from A. ciliata Bunge(Fujian) was the best. [Conclusions] This study can provide theoretical basis for the application of A. ciliata Bunge(Fujian).

  • Establishment of a Method for the Determination of Emodin in Wudajiangjun Liquor

    [Objectives] To establish a method for the determination of emodin in Wudajiangjun liquor, a hospital preparation. [Methods] A high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) method for the determination of emodin in Rhizoma Polygontum Cuspidatum in hospital preparation Wudajiangjun liquor was established. Using HPLC method, octadecylsilane chemically bonded silica gel was used as filler for the chromatographic column [Inertsil-C_(18) chromatographic column(5 μm, 4.6 mm×250 mm)]. Methanol-0.1% phosphoric acid water(76∶24) was used as mobile phase. The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min, the column temperature was 30 ℃, the detection wavelength was 254 nm, and the injection volume was 10 μL. [Results] The content of emodin in Wudajiangjun liquor was determined by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography(RP-HPLC). When the injection volume of emodin was in the range of 5.45-54.5 μg/mL, there was a good linear relationship between the injection volume and the peak area. The regression equation is Y=42.952-15.068(r=0.999 8), the average recovery rate is 98.23%, and RSD=1.45%. [Conclusions] A method for the determination of emodin in Wudajiangjun liquor by HPLC was established. This method can be used as a quality control method for Wudajiangjun liquor with high accuracy and good repeatability, which lays a foundation for the quality control of the medicinal liquor.

  • Determination of Content of Hyperin and Luteolin in Vernonia cinerea(L.) Less.

    [Objectives] To determine the content of hyperin and luteolin in Vernonia cinerea(L.) Less., and to provide basic experimental data for experimental research and clinical application of V. cinerea(L.) Less. [Methods] The components to be determined were extracted by ultrasonic extraction, and the hyperin and luteolin in V. cinerea(L.) Less. were separated and determined by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography(chromatographic conditions: reverse C_(18) column, methanol-0.4% phosphoric acid as mobile phase for gradient elution, flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, detector wavelength of 360 nm). [Results] The precision and repeatability of the experimental method were good, and the solution of V. cinerea(L.) Less. was stable within 18 h. There was a good linear relationship between the injection volume of hyperin and luteolin and the chromatographic peak area within the prescribed range, and the recovery rate was qualified. The content of hyperin and luteolin in V. cinerea(L.) Less. was 0.066 5 mg/g(n=3) and 0.100 4 mg/g(n=3), respectively. [Conclusions] The experimental method is sensitive, specific, stable, accurate and reliable, and can be used for the determination of hyperin and luteolin in V. cinerea(L.) Less.

  • Effects of Injection of Oregano Oil Submicron Emulsion on Lipopolysaccharide-induced Pneumonia in Rats

    [Objectives] To explore the effects of injection of oregano oil submicron emulsion on lipopolysaccharide-induced pneumonia in rats. [Methods] Rats induced by lipopolysaccharide were used as animal models of acute pneumonia. The experiment was divided into blank group, model group, administration group and positive drug control group. The morphology of lung tissue and the changes of cells and inflammatory factors in each group were observed, and the anti-inflammatory effects of injection of oregano oil submicron emulsion. [Results] The injection of oregano oil submicron emulsion can improve the pathological injury of rat lung tissue, inhibit the release of IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α cytokines induced by lipopolysaccharide, and significantly reduce the value of CRP. [Conclusions] Oregano oil submicron emulsion has a certain therapeutic effect on lipopolysaccharide-induced pneumonia in rats, and its mechanism may be related to reducing the release of cytoinflammatory factor IL-6, IL-10, and TNF-α and alleviating the injury to tissues and organs.

  • Catechol-derived Inhibitors against Quorum Sensing from Retiboletus kauffmanii

    [Objectives] This study aimed to screen anti-quorum sensing(QS) activity from the constituent of Retiboletus kauffmanii fruit body. [Methods] Chromatographic technology was used to isolate compounds, while well diffusion assay was applied to screen anti-quorum sensing activity. [Results] 12 phenolic compounds were purified from extracts, three catechol-derived compounds at sub-inhibitory concentrations were found to inhibit the production of violacein in Chromobacterium violaceum for the first time. [Conclusions] Three catechol analogs isolated from R. kauffmanii fruit body extract were indicated as quorum sensing inhibitors against C. violaceum.

  • Immunoregulation Effect of Red Ginseng Aqueous Extract on Mice

    [Objectives] The paper was to observe the effects of red ginseng aqueous extract on immune function of mice. [Methods] The aqueous extract of red ginseng was obtained by water extraction and concentration, and 10 mL of aqueous extract was equivalent to 2.86 g of raw materials. Total 240 mice were randomly divided into blank control group, low dose, medium dose and high dose groups of red ginseng aqueous extract, 60 mice each group. Mice in low dose, medium dose and high dose groups were intragastrically administered with 0.24, 0.48, 1.43 g/kg red ginseng aqueous extract once a day respectively, and those in blank control group were intragastrically administered with equal volume of deionized water at the dose of 0.1 mL/10 g once a day for consecutive 30 d. The immunoregulation effects of red ginseng aqueous extract on mice were explored by organ/body weight ratio measurement, delayed type hypersensitivity(DTH) reaction, Con A-induced spleen T lymphocyte transformation test, antibody-producing cells test, half hemolytic value(HC_(50)) test, carbon particle clearance test, phagocytosis test of chicken red blood cells by macrophages and NK cell activity test. [Results] Compared with the blank control group, the degree of toe swelling in low dose group and medium dose group of red ginseng aqueous extract [(0.62±0.14) mm,(0.53±0.12) mm vs.(0.36±0.10) mm] significantly increased(P<0.05). The ability of T lymphocytes proliferation(0.173±0.054, 0.189±0.063 vs. 0.098±0.012) in low dose group and high dose group significantly increased(P<0.05). The number of haemolytic plaque(137.49×10~3±24.73×10~3, 148.43×10~3±27.53×10~3 vs. 112.96×10~3±26.28×10~3) in medium dose group and high dose group significantly increased(P<0.05). The phagocytosis rate(35.67%±3.82%, 49.26%±6.54%, 57.92%±7.36% vs. 24.34%±4.22%) and phagocytosis index(0.72±0.23, 0.82±0.15, 0.91±0.26 vs. 0.35±0.11) of low dose, medium dose, high dose groups significantly increased(P<0.05). However, there was no statistical difference in spleen/body weight ratio, thymus/body weight ratio, half hemolytic value, carbon particle clearance and NK cell activity. [Conclusions] Red ginseng aqueous extract could enhance the immunity of mice.

  • Effects of Diet with "Lianteng" Additive of Chinese Herbal Medicine on Blood Biochemical Indexes,Immune and Antioxidant Function of Guangxi Sanhuang Chickens

    [Objectives] This trial was conducted to investigate the effects of diet with "Lianteng" additive of Chinese herbal medicine on blood biochemical indexes, immune and antioxidant function of Guangxi Sanhuang chickens. [Methods] 480 Guangxi Sanhuang chickens at the age of 1 d were divided into 4 groups randomly and each group was assigned to 6 replicates with 20 chicks in each replicate; groups A, B and C were treatment groups and fed basal diets with 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.4% of "Lianteng" additive of Chinese herbal medicine respectively during a trial of 70 d. Group D was control group and fed only basal diet. The serum samples were taken from 6 chicks in each group at the age of 21, 35 and 49 d respectively and analyzed for biochemical, immune and antioxidant parameters in serum. [Results] Results from the trial showed that no difference was found in serum content of GLU, TG, TP, TC, and UN in the measurement at the age of 21, 35 and 49 d(P>0.05); however, the content of ALB from groups A and B at 35 d was significantly higher than that from group D(P<0.01), and the ALB content from group B at 49 d was also higher than that from group D(P<0.05); the IgM content at 49 d from group A was lower than that from group D(P<0.05), in addition to this, there was no differences found in the contents of IgG, IgM and IFN-y among groups A, B, C and D during the trial(P>0.05); but the content of IL-2 from groups A and B at 49 d was significantly greater than that from group D(P<0.05); T-AOC from groups A, B and C at 49 d was very significantly higher than that from group D(P<0.01), and the one of group B at 35 d was still obviously higher than that of group D(P<0.05); also at 49 d, the GSH content in groups A and B was much greater than that in group D(P<0.01); T-SOD activity of group B and C at 35 d was distinctly greater than that of group D(P<0.05). [Conclusions] It can be concluded that the addition of 0.2% of "Lianteng" additive of Chinese herbal medicine in diet can increase immune function in a certain extent and promote the antioxidant ability observably for Guangxi Sanhuang chickens.

  • Effect of Polysaccharides from Hedyotis diffusa on Immune Cells of Small Intestinal Mucosa of Chicks

    [Objectives] This study aimed to investigate the effect of polysaccharides from Hedyotis diffusa on the immune cells of the intestinal mucosa of chicks. [Methods] Total 200 seven-day-old AA chicks were evenly and randomly divided into four groups: control group and three treatment groups. The chicks in the control group(group I) were fed basal diet, and those in the treatment groups were fed with basal diet supplemented with 0.4(group II), 0.8(group III) and 1.2(group IV) g/kg H. diffusa polysaccharides(OPS), respectively. At the age of 14, 28 and 42 d, 10 chicks from each of the groups were sacrificed, respectively for counting of intraepithelial lymphocytes(IELs) and lamina propria secretory IgA(SIgA) positive cells in small intestinal mucosa. [Results] At the age of 14 d, the duodenal and jejunal IEL and SIgA positive cell counts in groups II, III and IV were significantly greater than those in group I(P<0.05). At the age of 28 d, the jejunal IEL count of group IV was significantly lower than those of groups I, II and III(P<0.05); and there was no significant difference in IEL or SIgA positive cell count between group I and the other groups(P>0.05). At the age of 42 d, the duodenal and jejunal IEL counts in group II were significantly greater than those in groups I, III and IV(P<0.05), while the differences in duodenal and jejunal IEL count between groups III, IV and I were insignificant(P>0.05). The duodenal SIgA positive cell counts in the treatment groups were insignificantly different from that in group I(P>0.05). The jejunal SIgA positive cell count in group II was significantly greater than those in groups I, III and IV(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in jejunal SIgA positive cell count between groups III and IV and group I(P>0.05). [Conclusions] OPS at 0.4 g/kg can promote the proliferation of immune cells in the small intestine mucosa of 14-42-day-old AA chicks, and it is recommended to be added to the feed.

  • Effects of Dachengqi Decoctions Made from Different Processed Products of Rhubarb on ABP Mice

    [Objectives] This study aims to investigate the effects of Dachengqi decoctions made from different processed products of rhubarb on water intake, defecation amount, urination amount, urination volume, dryness of stool, mental state and activity of ABP mice. [Methods] Total 165 mice were randomly divided into Dachengqi decoction groups(made from different processed products of rhubarb, 6 and 10 g/kg), positive control group, blank control group and model group. The administration dosage was 20 mL/kg. With the metabolic cage integral method, the effects of Dachengqi decoctions made from different processed products of rhubarb on the water intake, defecation amount, urination volume, dryness of stool, mental state and activity of ABP mice were compared. [Results] Dachengqi decoctions all could soften stool and promote rapid defecation of the mice with fecal peritonitis of excess heat stagnation type except that made from carbonized rhubarb. The water intakes of all the Dachengqi decoction groups were higher than those of the positive control group and the model group, except the carbonized rhubarb-made Dachengqi decoction groups. [Conclusions] Dachengqi decoctions all have obvious purgative effect except those made from carbonized rhubarb.

  • Potential Action Mechanism of Baicalin on COVID-19 Based on Network Pharmacology

    [Objectives] To collect the main active components and targets of baicalein, and to explore the relationship between their targets and COVID-19 and the treatment mechanism of potential unknown targets. [Methods] The 2 D and 3 D structures of baicalein(CAS: 491-67-8) were obtained by searching Pubchem. The predicted target of baicalein was obtained through the Pharmapper website, and the species specific target was obtained by SEA search server. The COVID-19 related genes were obtained in Genecards and OMIM. The Draw Venny Diagram online program was used to establish the visualized network map of "drug-disease-target" with baicalein monomer target and disease common target and Cytoscape(3.7.2) software. The COVID-19 gene was constructed by using Cytoscape plug-in Bisogenet, and protein-protein interaction(PPI) network was constructed by using the baicalein COVID-19 gene. The CytoNCA topology was used to analyze the network topology and construct the core network. The core network genes were analyzed by GO and KEGG. [Results] Through screening, a total of 358 effective target genes of baicalein, 23 common targets of baicalein-COVID-19, and 80 genes of PPI core network were obtained. The total of 1 648 GO biological processes including DNA metabolism, positive regulation, intracellular receptor signaling pathway, transforming growth factor β receptor signaling pathway, regulation of apoptotic signaling pathway, RNA polymerase II transcription factor binding, and 115 KEGG-related signaling pathways involving cell cycle pathways, viral oncogenic pathways, Hepatitis B pathway, Hepatitis C pathway, PI3 K-Akt pathway, and ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis, etc. [Conclusions] The effect of baicalein on COVID-19 reflects the characteristics of multiple targets, and it can also regulate the occurrence and development of COVID-19 through various channels. This study is expected to provide a certain basis for subsequent experiments.

  • Effects of Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Decoction on Laboratory Indicators and Immune Functions of Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis

    [Objectives] To explore the effects of Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Decoction on laboratory indicators and immune functions of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. [Methods] A total of 110 patients with rheumatoid arthritis admitted to the Second Department of Orthopedics, the Affiliated Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital of Nanjing, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine from December 2014 to December 2016 were selected as the research objects and divided into a control group and an observation group using the random number table method, with 55 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine, and the observation group was treated with Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Decoction on the basis of the control group. Both groups were treated for one month. The clinical effects, improvement of clinical symptoms, laboratory indicators and immune function indicator levels between the two groups were compared; the incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups was counted. [Results] The total effective rate of the observation group was 92.73%, higher than that of the control group(78.18%)(P<0.05). Compared with that before treatment, after one month of treatment, the grip strength of the two groups increased, and the observation group was greater than the control group(P<0.05); the morning stiffness time and 20 m walking time of both groups were shortened, and the observation group was shorter than the control group(P<0.05); the number of joint tenderness, joint swelling, ESR, MPV, PDW, serum CRP, plasma IgA, IgG, IgM, RF levels in both groups decreased, and the observation group was lower than the control group(P<0.05); the serum C3 levels in both groups increased, and the observation group was higher than the control group(P<0.05). During the treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 0.00%, which was lower than that in the control group(10.91%, P<0.05). [Conclusions] Using Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Decoction to treat rheumatoid arthritis can improve the laboratory indicators of patients, and enhance their immune functions, improve the curative effect, and the safety is high.
