• History and Present Situation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Made of Dendrobium

    This paper aimed to review the origin and status of the traditional medicinal plants of Dendrobium called " Shihu" in Chinese. The medicinal herb named " Shihu" has developed from a single source to multiple sources when there are thirty to forty plant species of Dendrobium that were granted as " Shihu" in traditional Chinese medicinal concept which makes the material market very complicated. After reviewing the historical records of these medicinal plants by many researchers and sorting out relevant studies for nearly 30 years,majority of the original species of this medicinal herb is learned,and the achievements can be reached in each version of Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Newly added content in2005 Chinese Pharmacopoeia described as " and its allied species" in " Shihu" section was debatable. The chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of Guchui Shihu( from D. chrysotoxum) were vastly different from the other Dendrobium species listed as " Shihu",so it should be listed as an independent item. Meanwhile,the study of quality standard of Huoshan Shihu( mainly from D. huoshanense) should be drawn seriously attention to,and the results should be included in Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

  • Research on Materia Medica of Mongolian and Tibetan Medicinal Herb Caomaoxing

    [Objectives] To investigate the basic source of the traditional Mongolian and Tibetan herb Caomaoxing. [Methods] The basic source of materia medica of Mongolian and Tibetan herb Caomaoxing was investigated through the collection of ancient books and modern literature about Mongolian and Tibetan medicine,combined with the current situation of clinical application. [Results] Through careful collection of literature and data,Caomaoxing recorded in Mongolian and Tibetan Meteria Medica is the red xylem heartwood of Caragana jubata( Pall.)Poir. [Conclusions] Through investigation of the basic source of Caomaoxing recorded in Mongolian and Tibetan Meteria Medica,this study is expected to provide literature reference for further research and development of Caomaoxing.

  • Effects of the Fermentation of Lophatherum gracile Brongn on Its Active Ingredients of Total Flavonoids and Total Polysaccharide

    [Objectives] In order to explore the effect of fermentation on Lophatherum gracile Brongn. [Methods] The single factor experiment was applied to screen the fermentation conditions of L. gracile Brongn,and the effect of fermentation on the contents of total flavonoids and total polysaccharides was explored. [Results] The experiment defined the best fermentation conditions as: keeping natural state of p H,temperature 35℃,inoculation amount 6%,rotation speed 210 r/min,fermentation time 36 h. The results showed that the content increase of total flavonoids in the fermentation group was 5. 59% higher than the that in the non-fermentation group. [Conclusions]The selected fermentation method could improve the contents of total flavonoids and total polysaccharides.

  • Extraction Optimization and Composition Analysis of Volatile Oil from Fruit of Alpinia zerumbet

    [Objectives] The aim was to determine the optimum process for the extraction of volatile oil from Alpinia zerumbet fruit.[Methods]Steam distillation was used to extract volatile oil from A. zerumbet fruit. Based on the single factor tests,an orthogonal test was designed to explore the effects of solid-liquid ratio,soaking time,extraction time and grinding degree of material on the extraction rate. The composition of volatile oil from A. zerumbet fruit was analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry( GC-MS),and the relative mass fraction of each component was determined by peak area normalization. [Results] With volatile oil yield as the index,the optimum extraction process was determined: solid to liquid ratio of 1∶ 10,soaking time of 0. 5 h,grinding degree of passing through 24-mesh sieve and extraction time of 5 h. A total of 29 compounds were isolated. Among them,the contents of α-terpinene( 24. 894%),1,8-terpadiene( 15. 527%) andα-pinene( 6. 982%) were relatively high. [Conclusions]The optimized extraction process for volatile oil from A. zerumbet fruit is stable and reasonable. Under the optimum extraction process,the extraction effect of volatile oil from A. zerumbet fruit was the best. The chemical components of volatile oil from A. zerumbet fruit were determined by GC-MS as α-terpinene( 24. 894%),1,8-terpadiene( 15. 527%) and α-pinene( 6. 982%).

  • Determination of Cinnamic Acid in Stephania longa Lour. by HPLC

    [Objectives] To establish a HPLC method for the quantitative determination of cinnamic acid in Stephania longa Lour. [Methods]The chromatographic column: Thermo BDS HYPERSIL C_(18)( 4. 6 mm × 250 mm,5 μm); mobile phase: acetonitrile-0. 1% phosphoric acid( 24∶ 76); flow rate: 1 mL/min; column temperature: 30℃; wavelength: 285 nm. [Results]The cinnamic acid was in a good linear relationship in the range of 0. 021 7-0. 076 μg,the sample recovery rate was 100. 46%,the RSD was 2. 20%,and the content was in the range of 0. 004%-0. 022%. [Conclusions] The method is simple,accurate and reproducible,and can be used for the quality control of S. longa Lour.

  • Simultaneous Determination of Three Components in Herba Taxilli from Different Host Trees by HPLC

    [Objectives] To establish a HPLC method for the simultaneous determination of three components( namely,quercetin,quercitrin and avicularin) in Herba Taxilli. [Methods]Agilent C18 liquid chromatography column( column size: 150 mm × 4. 6 mm,5 m) was used;mobile phase Dacetonitrile∶ water = 22∶ 78; flow rate: 1. 0 m L/min; column temperature: 35℃; injection volume: 10 μL; detection wavelength: 254 nm. [Results]The injection volume of quercetin,quercitrin and avicularin was in a good linear relationship with the peak area in the range of 0. 22-4. 4 μg( R = 1),0. 096-3. 84 μg( R = 0. 999 6),and 0. 106-5. 3 μg( R = 0. 999 9),and the average sample recovery was 99. 32%,100. 53%,and 98. 96%,respectively. [Conclusions]The stability and reproducibility of the established method for determining the content of Herba Taxilli in this experiment are good,and it is expected to provide reference for its quality control and evaluation.

  • Determination of 10 Kinds of Inorganic Elements in Paris polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis(Franch.) Hand.-Mazz.(and Polygerm Varieties)

    [Objectives] To determine the content of 10 kinds of inorganic elements(Pb,Cu,As,Cd,Hg,Zn,Fe,Mn,Sr and Cr) in samples of Paris polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis( Franch.) Hand.-Mazz.( and polygerm varieties) produced in different areas. [Methods] The wet digestion and technique of inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry( ICP-OES) were used. [Results] Under the experimental conditions,elements were not related to each other,and several kinds of elements could be measured at the same time. The content of Pb exceeding the standard only in sample S4 of P. polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis( and polygerm varieties),Hg was not detected in all samples,and the rest heavy metals did not exceed the limit. [Conclusions] This study was expected to provide a certain reference for the development and utilization of P. polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis( and polygerm varieties).

  • Chemical Composition of Artemisia subdigitata Mattf.

    [Objectives] The aim was to study the chemical composition of the aboveground part of Artemisia subdigitata Mattf. [Methods]Using the systemic preparative test,the water extract,ethanol extract and petroleum ether extract of the aboveground part of A. subdigitata were subjected to physiochemical identification,and the contained chemical constituents were identified preliminarily. [Results] The preliminary comparisons of preparative test results of the aboveground part of A. subdigitata suggested that the whole plant may contain saponins,tannins,phenols,flavonoids,anthraquinones,coumarins,lactones,alkaloids,sterides or triterpenes,volatile oils and oils. [Conclusions]A. subdigitata contains a variety of chemical constituents. This study provides certain experimental basis for the further research and development and utilization of A. subdigitata.

  • A Preliminary Study on the Infrared Spectra Characteristics of Radix Chuanmingshinis Violacei

    [Objectives] To carry out infrared spectroscopic study of different growth years and different parts of the traditional Chinese medicine Radix Chuanmingshinis Violacei. [Methods]Using potassium bromide squash method and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy on the different growth years and different parts of Radix Chuanmingshinis Violacei for infrared spectrum and second derivative spectrum. [Results]With the increasing growth time,Radix Chuanmingshinis Violacei accumulated in the secondary metabolism substances gradually increased,the characteristic absorption peak appeared in the position such as 3 366,2 927,1 634,1 416,1 516,1 080,1 020,and 928 cm~(-1),the main chemicals as polysaccharide,coumarin,saponins and steroids. The difference of chemical position between root tuber and cauline leaf is obvious. [Conclusions]Infrared spectroscopy was applied in studying different growing periods and different parts of Radix Chuanmingshinis Violacei,of obvious characteristics,identification and quality evaluation method,is simple and suitable for Radix Chuanmingshinis Violacei.

  • A Pharmacognostical Study on Ardisia gigantifolia and Its Adulterants

    [Objectives]The research aimed to study the characteristics of Ardisia gigantifolia and its adulterants Embelia scandens and Mappianthus iodoides for identification. [Methods] Through the trait identification method,powder microscopic identification method,TLC,inclusions detection and content determination,A. gigantifolia and its adulterants were contrasted. [Results]The morphological and histological characteristics of A. gigantifolia,E. scandens and M. iodoides were different from each other. Containing water,total ash,acid insoluble ash and other inclusions also had difference; the total triterpenoid saponins were respectively 122. 90 mg/g of A. gigantifolia,147. 052 mg/g of E. scandens,and 63. 06 mg/g of M. iodoides. [Conclusions] These methods are accurate and reliable,which could be used for the identification of A. gigantifolia and its adulterants.

  • Alcohols Extraction Process and Content of Active Ingredients in Chinese Northeastern Auricularia auricula

    [Objectives] The aim was to study the type and content of alcohol-soluble active ingredients in Auricularia auricula. [Methods]With total yield of alcohol extract as an indicator,the optimal concentrations of ethanol,isopropanol and n-butanol for alcohol extraction of A. auricula powder were determined. The contents of total flavonoids,polyphenols and triterpenoids in three different alcohol extracts of A. auricula,as well as in the alcohol extracts of polysaccharides and melanin extraction residue of A. auricula were determined. [Results] When90% ethanol was used,the yield of alcohol extract of A. auricula was 10. 7%. In the alcohol extract,the contents of total flavonoids,polyphenols and triterpenoids were 5. 68 mg/100 g,0. 43% and 0. 55%,respectively. When 100% isopropanol was used,the yield of alcohol extract was 10. 1%. In the alcohol extract,the contents of total flavonoids,polyphenols and triterpenoids were 4. 84 mg/100 g,0. 66% and 0. 37%,respectively. When 70% n-butanol was used,the yield of alcohol extract was 5. 4%. In the alcohol extract,the contents of total flavonoids,polyphenols and triterpenoids were 4. 07 mg/100 g,1. 68% and 0. 30%,respectively. The yields of ethanol,isopropanol and n-butanol extracts of polysaccharide and melanin extraction residue of A. auricula were 13. 8%,14. 3% and 8. 9%,respectively. In the three kinds of alcohol extracts,the contents of total flavonoids were 8. 28,11. 99,and 12. 38 mg/100 g,respectively; the contents of polyphenols were 0.14%,0. 38% and 0. 75%,respectively; and the contents of triterpenoids were 0. 25%,0. 60% and 0. 58%,respectively. [Conclusions]This study will provide certain reference for the in-depth study and development and utilization of active ingredients in A. auricula.

  • Experimental Study on Content of Aqueous Extract and Total Flavonoids in Different Parts of Sichuan Ophiopogon japonicus 1

    [Objectives]To study the differences in the content of aqueous extract and total flavonoids in different parts of Sichuan Ophiopogon japonicus 1,and provide a scientific basis for the comprehensive utilization of O. japonicus resources. [Methods] According to Volume I of 2015 Chinese Pharmacopoeia,and with reference to literature methods,taking water as extraction solvent,hot dip method was used to determine the content of aqueous extract; taking ethanol as extraction solvent,the content of total flavonoids was determined using hot dip method,Ultraviolet-Visible Spectrophotometry. [Results]The content of aqueous extract and total flavonoids in the root tubers of Sichuan O. japonicus1 was higher than that of traditional O. japonicas; the content of aqueous extract in the root tubers of Sichuan O. japonicus 1 was higher than that in the leaves of Sichuan O. japonicus 1; the content of total flavonoids in leaves of Sichuan O. japonicus 1 was higher than that in the root tubers; the content of aqueous extract and total flavonoids in Sichuan O. japonicus 1 in the second year was higher than that in the first year.[Conclusions]The quality of new cultivar of Sichuan O. japonicas 1 was significantly higher than the traditional O. japonicus. Nowadays,the main part of drug use in O. japonicas is root,but as to the content of total flavonoids,fibrous roots and leaves are more dominant,it is feasible to develop and utilize the resources of flavonoids in the fibrous roots and leaves. The content of aqueous extract and total flavonoids from the second year O. japonicus was higher than that in the first year O. japonicus,but its increased amount did not meet the requirements of economic benefits.

  • Antioxidant Activity of Different Solvent Extracts of Blumea Megacephala in Vitro

    [Objectives] The aim was to study the antioxidant activity of different solvent extracts of Blumea Megacephala in vitro. [Methods] The removal rates of DPPH free radicals and ABTS free radicals and the reduction capacity of Fe~(3+) by ethanol extract( EE),acetone extract( AE) and ethyl acetate extract( EAE) of Blumea Megacephala were detected. [Results]The three extracts of Blumea Megacephala had certain antioxidant activity,of which the antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate extract was the strongest and has great potential for development.[Conclusions]The study can provide scientific reference for the deep research on the antioxidant activity of Blumea Megacephala.

Processing of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Quality Control

  • Establishment of Quality Standard for Mongolian Medicines Shoushen and Naishoushen


    [Objectives] To systematically identify and analyze pharmacognostical features of Mongolian medicine Shoushen and Naishoushen( dairy tablets) to provide scientific basis for the establishment and identification of its quality standard. [Methods] According to relevant methods specified in Appendix to 2010 Chinese Pharmacopoeia,the water content,total ash,and extracts of Shoushen and Naishoushen were detected,and thin layer chromatography( TLC) was applied to make qualitative identification. Gastrodin was used as the reference substance,extracted with 70% methanol,and then sprayed with ethyl acetate-formic acid-water( 9∶ 1∶ 0. 2) as the developing solvent,and then sprayed with 10% phosphomolybdic acid ethanol solution and heated at 105℃ to clear spot color. UV-Visible spectrophotometry and high performance liquid chromatography( HPLC) were used to analyze the content of polysaccharides and gastrodins in Shoushen and Naishoushen. The chromatographic column was a ZOBB AX eclipse XDB-C_(18)( 4. 6 mm × 250 mm,5 cm) column with the methanol-0. 04% phosphoric acid solution( 8∶92) as the mobile phase,the flow rate of 1. 0mL/min,the detection wavelength of 222 nm,and the column temperature of 30℃.[Results]In the thin-layer chromatography test,spots of the same color appeared at the positions corresponding to the chromatogram of the reference substance. Gastrodin eluted under high pressure reached baseline separation. Gastrodin had a good linearity in the concentration range of 0. 009-0. 09 mg/m L. The regression equation was Y = 586 866 X + 425 821( R~2= 0. 999 6),and the average recovery rate was100. 1%. Precision test,reproducibility test,and stability test conformed to the requirements. The results of extracts of three batches of samples were 26. 13%-42. 58%,water content was 3. 47%-5. 31%,and total ash was 5. 43%-6. 33%. [Conclusions] The quality control method has high reliability,high sensitivity,high specificity,high accuracy,and high stability. The results are expected to provide a scientific basis for the identification,resource utilization,and improvement of quality standard for Shoushen and Naishoushen.

  • Quality Evaluation of Leontopodium franchetii Beauv. from Different Localities Based on Moisture,Ash and Extract Contents and Thin-layer Chromatography

    [Objectives] The aim was to determine the moisture,ash and extract contents in Leontopodium franchetii Beauv. from different localities. [Methods] The contents of moisture,total ash,acid-insoluble ash and extract in L. franchetii from different localities were determined according to the methods described in Chinese Pharmacopoeia( 2015 Edition). [Results] In the 10 samples,the contents of moisture were all less than or equal to 15. 0%; the contents of total ash were all below 12. 0%; and the contents of acid-insoluble ash were all less than 3. 0%. The contents of water-soluble extract( by cold-soaked extraction method) in the samples were all below 12. 0% except those from Hongyuan Prairie of Sichuan Province and Xinglong Mountain in Lanzhou City,Gansu Province. [Conclusions]The contents of the four indicators measured in this experiment varied by small margins,indicating that the quality was relatively stable. This study provides theoretical data for the revision of the quality standards for L. franchetii.

  • Application of Multivariate Analysis Method in Evaluation of Quality and Traits of Sichuan Ophiopogon japonicus

    [Objectives] To study the relationship between the yield and total saponin content of Sichuan Ophiopogon japonicus. [Methods]The multi-indicator function model of Sichuan O. japonicus was established by using the multivariate analysis method and taking the yield of and total saponin content of Sichuan O. japonicus as indicators. [Results] In the multivariate non-linear fitting,the Pearson correlation test was used to reduce the dimension of the model,and the significant correlated variables were rejected,leaving three independent variables: the total fresh weight of the plant( x_1),the fresh weight of the aboveground part(x_2) and the fresh weight of fibrous roots(x_3),established the total saponin( y) function model for Sichuan O. japonicus: y = a_1+a_2x_2+ a_3x_3+ a_4x_1x_2+ a_5x_1x_3+ a_6x_2x_3+ a_7x_1~2+ a_8x_2~2+ a_9x_3~2.[Conclusions]When the total fresh weight of plant,fresh weight of aboveground part and fresh weight of fibrous roots were known in Sichuan O. japonicus root tuber,the total saponin content could be estimated by polynomial of these three variables. The establishment of this functional model system is expected to provide a scientific basis for the scientific prediction of the yield and total saponin content of Sichuan O. japonicus.

  • Changes in Active Components before and after Microorganism Fermentation of Rhizoma Paridis(Chonglou)

    [Objectives] To study the changes in active components before and after microorganism fermentation of Rhizoma Paridis( Chonglou). [Methods]Analytical methods using total saponins and total flavonoids as indicators were established. UV spectrophotometry was used to determine the changes in active components before and after fermentation of Rhizoma Paridis. [Results] The content of total saponins decreased after fermentation,while the content of total flavonoids increased. [Conclusions]The content of total saponins decreased after fermentation and the content of total flavonoids increased. The fermentation process of Monascus purpureus Went. needs further optimization.

  • Study on Processing Technology for Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix by Bean Curd

    [Objectives] The aim was to explore the best parameters for processing Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix by bean curd. [Methods] Orthogonal test( L_(16)(4~3)) was designed to investigate the optimal soaking time,decocting time and bean curd proportion for processing Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix by bean curd. The contents of monoester alkaloids and diester-alkaloids were measured as the evaluation indexes. [Results]The contents of monoester alkaloids were 0. 11%,0. 07%,0. 062% and 0. 048% respectively under the four levels of soaking time,were0. 081%,0. 066%,0. 074% and 0. 067% respectively under the four levels of decocting time,and were 0. 070%,0. 072%,0. 080% and0. 073% respectively under the four levels of bean curd proportion. The content of diester-alkaloids was all below 0. 034%. The influence intensity of the three factors on the content of monoester alkaloids ranked as soaking time > decocting time > bean curd proportion. Under any of the above conditions,the content of diester-alkaloids was below the limit of Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The content of diester-alkaloids was reduced obviously with the increased use of bean curd. [Conclusions] The optimum processing conditions for Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix were A_3B_3C_2,i. e.,soaking time of 6 d,decocting time of 5 h and bean curd proportion of 25%.

  • The Optimization of Ultrasonic Extraction Technology of Total Flavonoids in Leaves of Mallotus apelta by Response Surface Analysis Methodology

    [Objectives] Response surface analysis methodology was used to optimize the extraction technology of total flavonoids from Mallotus apelta leaves. [Methods] The total flavonoids were extracted using ultrasonic assisted ethanol extraction,and extraction rate of total flavonoids was taken as evaluation index. On the basis of single-factor experiment,Box-Behnken response surface methodology was employed for selecting the optimum extraction process. [Results]The optimum extraction conditions of total flavonoids were as follows: 75% of ethanol concentration,1∶ 25 of ratio of material to liquid,31 min of ultrasonic time. Under these conditions,the extraction rate of total flavonoids was 1. 115%.[Conclusions] The extraction process obtained by response surface methodology was stable,reasonable,accurate and reliable. It was a feasible method to extract the total flavonoids from M. apelta leaves.

  • Extraction Process and Content Determination of Caffeic Acid in Laggera alata from Different Production Areas of Guangxi

    [Objectives] To establish a method for determining the content of Laggera alata( D. Don) Sch. Bip. Ex Oliv. using caffeic acid the target component,and to compare the content of caffeic acid in the medicinal materials of L. alata in different production areas of Guangxi.[Methods]The content was determined by Inertsil~ODS-3 chromatographic column C_(18)( 4. 60 mm × 250 mm,5 μm,mobile phase: acetonitrile-0. 1% phosphoric acid( 22∶ 78),detection wavelength: 320 nm,flow rate: 1. 0 m L/min,column temperature: 30℃,and injection volume: 10 μL. [Results] The caffeic acid showed a good linear relationship in the range of injection volume of 0. 025 92-0. 259 2 μg( R =0. 999 5). The average recovery rate was 98. 33%( RSD = 1. 85%). L. alata in different production areas of Guangxi contained the caffeic acid,and there was a great difference in the caffeic acid. L. alata in Baise had the highest content of caffeic acid,while that in Guilin had the lowest content of caffeic acid. [Conclusions]This method can accurately determine the content of caffeic acid and is expected provide a scientific basis for the development and utilization of herbal medicine L. alata.

  • Identification of Paris polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis(Franch.) Hand.-Mazz.(Polygerm Varieties) Produced in Gaoligong Mountain Areas

    [Objectives] To make original plant and microscopic identification and study the traits of Paris polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis( Franch.) Hand.-Mazz.( polygerm varieties) produced in Gaoligong Mountain areas,and provide experimental data for their identification and application. [Methods] The original plant powder was used,and paraffin sections and physicochemical properties were identified. [Results]P. polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis( polygerm varieties) produced in Gaoligong Mountain areas showed obvious microscopic features and physicochemical properties. [Conclusions] This study was expected to provide certain reference for identification of original plant and medicine and formulation of quality standard for P. polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis( polygerm varieties) produced in Gaoligong Mountain areas,and provided basis for their further research and development.

  • Analysis on Quality of Coptis chinensis Grown under Different Woods

    [Objectives] To analyze the quality of Coptis chinensis grown under woods of Magnolia officinalis Rehd. et Wils.,Platycladus orientalis( Linn.) Franco.,and Cunninghamia lanceolata( Lamb.). [Methods] The content of five kinds of alkaloids in C. chinensis grown under three different woods was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography( HPLC). Detection conditions: 0. 03 mol/L methanol and potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution( volume ratio of 65∶ 35) as the mobile phase,flow rate of 1. 0 mL/min,detection wavelength of 350 nm,and column temperature of 35℃. [Results] In these three woods,the quality of C. chinensis grown under P. orientalis woods was the highest. [Conclusions] This study is expected to provide certain references for cultivation and planting of C. chinensis under woods.

  • Clinical Observation on Treatment of Moderate and Severe Periodical Mastalgia with TCM Hot-wet Compress Therapy

    [Objectives] To observe the clinical therapeutic efficacy of local hot-wet compress therapy of digestion ointment prescription on the patients with moderate and severe mastalgia. [Methods] Firstly,60 patients with mastalgia were selected,and divided into the experimental group and control group( 30 cases for each group). The control group was treated with acupuncture at distal point,and the experimental group was treated with TCM local hot-wet compress therapy combined with acupuncture at distal point. Then,the clinical therapeutic efficacy of two groups was compared. [Results]The experimental group was superior to the control group in relieving the breast pain,improving emotional integral,reducing breast lumps,improving lump texture,and improving TCM syndrome integral( P < 0. 05). [Conclusions]The digestion ointment prescription local hot-wet compress therapy has a significant therapeutic effect on treatment of mastalgia and can significantly improve the breast pain symptom of patients.

  • Protective Effect of Space Ginseng Yeast on Human Primary Fibroblasts under Simulated Microgravity Condition

    [Objectives] To study the protective effect of Space Ginseng Yeast on human primary fibroblasts. [Methods] Multiple indicators were used to simulate the microgravity effect,so as to study the protective effect of Space Ginseng Yeast on human primary fibroblasts under simulated microgravity condition. [Results]Space Ginseng Yeast could improve changes of cell morphology and decline of the survival rate caused by microgravity,restore the expression and effective arrangement of cytoskeletal protein Tubulin,extracellular matrix proteins Integrin and Fibronectin,and can inhibit the abnormal expression of MMP-1. The protective effect of Space Ginseng Yeast diluted 20-500 times is better,and the protective effect of Space Ginseng Yeast diluted 100 times is the most obvious. [Conclusions] Space Ginseng Yeast can protect damage of human primary fibroblasts caused by simulated microgravity.

  • Mechanical Experiment for 3D Printing of Titanium Bone Bionic Dental Implants

    [Objectives] To explore the flexural strength of 3D printed titanium bone bionic dental implants and provide a scientific basis for the clinical application of 3D printed porous bionic bone dental implants. [Methods] The cone-beam CT( CBCT) image information of 20 premolars extracted by orthodontic requirement was collected,and a new porous bone bionic dental implant was produced using modeling software and 3D printer. The premolars were divided into two groups( A and B). The universal testing machine was used to test the flexural strength of the two groups and the difference in flexural strength between the two groups was compared through statistics. [Results]Twenty 3D printed porous titanium bone bionic implants were accurately produced; the morphology of group A and group B were extremely similar to each other; the average flexural strength of group A was 2 767. 92 N,while the average flexural strength of group B was 778. 77 N,showing that the average flexural strength of group A was significantly higher than that of group B,and the difference was statistically significant( P < 0. 05).[Conclusions]The personalized porous structure root implants produced by 3D printing technology are very similar to the target tooth morphology,and show high accuracy and small error of production. Besides,the flexural strength of 3D printed personalized porous structure root implants can fully meet the requirements of the maximum occlusal force for dental implant restoration. It is expected to provide a scientific basis for clinical application of 3 D printed porous bionic bone tooth implants.

  • Effects of Maca Extract on Endurance and Blood Antioxidant Enzyme Activity of Rats

    [Objectives] The aim was to investigate the effects of maca extract on endurance and blood antioxidative enzyme activity of rats.[Methods]The Wistar rats treated with/without maca extract( 8. 0,16. 0,and 32. 0 g/kg) were given with free access to circulating water.The administration was conducted for 15 consecutive d. On the 16 th d,the endurance and blood malondialdehyde( MDA),superoxide dismutase( SOD) and glutathione peroxidase( GSH-Px) levels of the rats were determined. [Results] Compared with those of the rats without maca extract treatment,the swimming time before sinking of the rats administered with 8. 0,16. 0,and 32. 0 g/kg of maca extract was increased by 34. 38%,84. 25% and 126. 07%( P < 0. 01),the total swimming time was increased by 37. 42%,47. 03% and 107. 24%( P <0. 01),the times of sinking was reduced by 17. 65%,33. 28% and 55. 50%( P < 0. 05,P < 0. 01),the blood MDA level was reduced by 34.63%,54. 13% and 63. 73%( P < 0. 01),the blood SOD activity was increased by 67. 78%,108. 25% and 154. 49%( P < 0. 01),and the blood GSH-Px level was increased by 48. 57%,110. 28% and 154. 86%( P < 0. 01). [Conclusions]Maca extract has the functions of resisting fatigue and enhancing athletic,and the mechanisms are related to the reduction of blood MDA level and the increase of blood SOD and GSH-Px activity.

  • Potential Application of TCM Sophoridine in Regulating Intensity of Autophagy to Treat PKD

    Nearly all cells have primary cilia( PC) composed of microtubules,primary cilia mainly functioning as sensing various signals of the environment and coordinating intracellular signaling pathways. Autophagy is an adaptive response of cells to environmental stress such as starvation/inflammation and infection. Many ciliopathies may induce autophagy. Polycystic kidney disease( PKD) is the most common ciliopathy,with the incidence of 1/500 to 1/1 000 in the world. A typical symptom of the PKD is the chronic development of multiple renal cysts that may eventually develop into advanced kidney disease. Sophoridine is an alkaloid extracted from the traditional Chinese medicinal plant Sophora alopecuroides L. It is a new antitumor drug which has the function of inducing cell autophagy. This paper mainly discussed the possibility of treating PKD through sophoridine inducing autophagy.

  • Protective Effect and Mechanism of Polysaccharides from Cordyceps cicadae on Acute Liver Injury Induced by D-GlaN in Mice

    [Objectives]To observe the protective effect of Cordyceps cicadae polysaccharides on acute liver injury induced by D-galactosamine( D-GlaN) in mice,and to explore its mechanism. [Methods] Seventy-five male Kunming mice were randomly and evenly divided into 5 groups according to the digital table method: normal group( CK)( injected intraperitoneally with saline solution),model group( injected intraperitoneally with D-GlaN),low-dose C. cicadae polysaccharides group( administered with 0. 5 g/kg of C. cicadae polysaccharides solution by gavage),middle-dose C. cicadae polysaccharides group( administered with 1. 0 g/kg of C. cicadae polysaccharides solution by gavage) and high-dose C. cicadae polysaccharides group( administered with 2. 0 g/kg of C. cicadae polysaccharides solution by gavage). After 12 d of administration,the liver histopathological score,liver homogenate indexes( superoxide dismutase,SOD; malondialdehyde,MDA; glutathione peroxidase,GSH-Px; nitric oxide,NO) and serum markers( aspartate transaminase,AST; alanine transaminase,ALT; alkaline phosphatase,ALP; cholinesterase,CHE) of mice in each group were detected. The expression levels of nuclear factor-κB( NF-κB) and tumor necrosis factor-α( TNF-α) in liver tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry. [Results]The liver histopathological score and the MDA,NO,AST,ALT,ALP,NF-κB and TNF-α levels were significantly higher( P < 0. 05) and the SOD,GSH-Px and CHE levels were significantly lower( P <0. 05) in the model group compared with the normal group. Compared with those in the model group,the liver tissue histopathological scores in the low-,middle-and high-dose C. cicadae polysaccharides groups were all significantly reduced( P < 0. 05). With the increase of treatment dose,the liver tissue histopathological scores showed a significant decrease( P < 0. 05). Compared with the model group,the levels of MDA,NO,AST,ALT,ALP,NF-κB and TNF-α were significantly lower( P < 0. 05),and the levels of SOD,GSH-Px and CHE were significantly higher( P < 0. 05) in the low-,middle-and high-dose C. cicadae polysaccharides groups. With the increase of treatment dose,the levels of MDA,NO,AST,ALT,ALP,NF-κB and TNF-α declined significantly( P < 0. 05),while the levels of SOD,GSH-Px and CHE rose significantly( P < 0. 05). [Conclusions] C. cicadae polysaccharides have a significant protective effect on D-GlaN-induced acute liver injury in mice in a dose-dependent manner,and the mechanism may be related to the inhibition of NF-κB inflammatory signaling pathway.

  • Inhibitory Effects of Ginseng Water Extract on Hydroxyl Radical

    [Objectives] The aim of this work was to compare the inhibitory effects of different water-soluble extracts of ginseng on hydroxyl radical. [Methods]The water-soluble effective parts of ginseng were extracted by orthogonal test,the hydroxyl radical scavenging rate of each extract was determined by salicylic acid method,and the extraction process of the optimum hydroxyl radical inhibitor was optimized using variance analysis and cluster analysis. [Results] A total of 16 samples were prepared. Among them,the sample No. 12 had the highest hydroxyl radical scavenging rate,and the inhibition rate reached 105. 08% at the concentration of 1 g/L. [Conclusions] Ginseng water extract contained hydroxyl radical scavenger,of which the optimum extraction process was as follows: p H of 8,solid to liquid ratio of 1∶ 10,extraction temperature of 4℃,extraction time of 12 h and extraction times of 3.

  • Protective Effect of Shenfu Injection on Rats with Chronic Heart Failure Induced by Doxorubicin

    [Objectives] To determine the protective effect of Shenfu injection( SFI) on chronic heart failure( CHF) in rats induced by doxorubicin. [Methods] CHF was induced by doxorubicin via intraperitoneal injection in rats. The cardiac function parameters,the heart index,the serum brain natriuretic peptide( BNP) level and cardiac histopathology were measured 4 weeks after Shenfu injection treatment. [Results]Shenfu injection remarkably improved the heart index and cardiac histopathology,increased the heart rate( HR),left ventricular systolic pressure( LVSP),maximum rising rate of left ventricular pressure( + dp/dtmax) and dropping rate of left ventricular pressure(-dp/dtmax),reduced the left ventricular end-diastolic pressure( LVEDP) and serum BNP level of rats with CHF induced by doxorubicin. [Conclusions]Shenfu injection exerts protective effect on CHF induced by doxorubicin.
