  • Advances in Research on Anti-tumor Active Components of Labiatae Plants

    In recent years, the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects of the Labiatae plants have been widely recognized, and have been used in clinical practice, and their anti-tumor effects are also very significant, and receiving more and more attention. At present, malignant tumors are still the first killer threatening human health. Because of the long-term use of chemical anti-tumor drugs with certain drug resistance and obvious side effects, finding high-efficiency anti-tumor active ingredients from natural plants and Chinese herbal medicines has become a hot spot in the field of pharmacy. Literature survey indicates that the active ingredients in Labiatae plants have anti-tumor effects. Therefore, this paper summarized and discussed the anti-tumor types, mechanisms and active components of the Labiatae plants, so as to provide a basis and reference for the development of new anti-tumor drugs or preparations.

  • Study on Anti-tumor Activity and Mechanism of Isoorientin

This paper reviews the research progress of anti-tumor activity and mechanism of isoorientin in recent years.

  • Advances in Research on Anti-cancer Mechanism of 18β Glycyrrhetinic Acid

    Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch has been used to treat the symptoms of organ fever, food poisoning, typhoid fever, sore throat, cough due to lung heat, children's diseases and so on since the ancient times. It is a solid Chinese herbal medicine which is good for the health. In recent years, it has been found that licorice extract also has excellent anti-cancer effect. The 18β glycyrrhetinic acid, obtained by hydrolysis of precursor glycyrrhizic acid, is a relatively efficient anti-cancer ingredient. 18β glycyrrhetinic acid can exert anti-cancer effects by inhibiting cancer cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis of cancer cells, inhibiting invasion and metastasis of cancer cells, preventing oxidation, inhibiting neovascularization, inhibiting lymphangiogenesis, and regulating hormone secretion. This paper reviewed the advances in research of the anticancer mechanism of 18β glycyrrhetinic acid, to provide a theoretical basis for future research.

Chemical Composition of Natural Medicine

  • Application of Metabolomics Approach to Study on Chemical Constituents in Cultivated and Wild Pinellia ternate (Thunb.) Breit. and Typhonium flagelliforme (Lodd.) Blume Based on UPLC-ESI-HRMS~n

    [Objectives] The aim was to study chemical components of cultivated and wild Pinellia ternate(Thunb.) Breit and Typhonium flagelliforme(Lodd.) Blume by metabolomics technology based on UPLC-ESI-HRMS~n. [Methods] Chemical components of 27 samples of cultivated and wild P. ternate and T. flagelliforme were detected by using UPLC-ESI-HRMS~ntechnology. Differential markers between P. ternate and T. flagelliforme as well as cultivated and wild P. ternate were screened and identified by principal component analysis(PCA) and orthogonal partial least square-discriminate analysis(OPLS-DA). [Results]12 components of P. ternate(cultivated and wild variety) and T.flagelliforme and three components of cultivated and wild P. ternate were screened and identified by OPLS-DA. N-Acetyl-6-hydroxy-L-tryptophan and N-Phenylacetylglutamic were not detected in P. ternate,and these two components can be used as potential markers of P. ternate and T. flagelliforme. [Conclusions]UPLC-ESI-HRMS~n-based metabolomics technology could be used to quickly identify the chemical constituents of P. ternate and effectively distinguish P. ternate and T. flagelliforme,which has reference significance for the quality control of P. ternate.

  • Synthesis of 5-methyl-2-(2,4,4,7-tetramethylchroman-2-yl) Phenol as an Impurity in Thymol

    [Objectives] To optimize the preparation process of 5-methyl-2-(2,4,4,7-tetramethylchromanyl) phenol(impurity C) and the liquid phase determination method of the impurity, and to provide an important basis for the establishment of material methods and quality control of thymol. [Methods] The 4,7-dimethylcoumarin as the starting material was hydrolyzed by potassium hydroxide to obtain the substance II 5-methyl-2-(1-propylene-2-yl) phenol, and then purified and treated with hydrochloric acid to obtain a pale yellow solid. High-purity main peak was obtained by high-performance liquid phase method, and it was identified as impurity C by ~1H-NMR measurement and spectrum analysis. [Results] After the method was optimized, the synthesis route to the impurity C was simple, and the purity of impurity C was high. The obtained impurity C was confirmed by ~1H-NMR to be a compound 5-methyl-2-(2,4,4,7-tetramethylchromanyl) phenol. The liquid phase detection method was successfully established to identify the compound. [Conclusions] The optimized method is easy to control and the impurity C has high purity and it is expected to provide quality assurance for the study of related substances in the quality control of thymol.

  • Comparative Analysis of Proanthocyanidins and Polysaccharides on Wild Lycium ruthenicum

    [Objectives] To compare content of proanthocyanidins and polysaccharides in wild Lycium ruthenicum. [Methods] The wild L. ruthenicum collected from different regions such as Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Gansu Province were taken as the research objects. The conventional indicators such as proanthocyanidins and polysaccharides of the experimental materials were determined, and the proanthocyanidins and polysaccharides of the experimental materials in different regions were compared and analyzed. The difference in content and correlation, and the cluster analysis method were used to divide clusters of the experimental materials. [Results] The absorbance of proanthocyanidins in the fruit of wild L. ruthenicum was No.4>No.1>No.5>No.6>No.3>No.2, among which the absorbance of anthocyanin(2.43) of wild L. ruthenicum variety No.4 was significantly higher than other experimental materials(P<0.05), and proanthocyanidin of No.2 had the lowest absorbance value of 1.35. There was no significant difference between No.3 and No.6(P>0.05), and there were significant differences among other experimental materials(P<0.05). The content of polysaccharides was: No.3>No.7>No.2>No.4>No.5>No.6>No.1; there was no significant difference between No.3 and No.7(P>0.05), but significantly higher than other materials(P<0.05). Besides, proanthocyanidins and polysaccharides showed significant variability, but there was no consistency in the correlation between them. [Conclusions] In terms of the absorbance of proanthocyanidins, the experimental materials No.1 and No.4 can be classified into a cluster; experimental materials No.2, No.3, No.5 and No.6 can be classified into another cluster. This can provide a theoretical basis for the introduction and breeding of fine varieties.

  • Content Determination of Flavonoids in Radix Millettiae Speciosae from Different Areas of Guangxi

    [Objectives] This study aimed to investigate the quality of Radix Millettiae Speciosae at different planting sites in Guangxi. [Methods] The content of flavonoids in Radix Millettiae Speciosae was determined by HPLC. The chromatographic conditions were as follows: column, ZORBAX SB-C_(18); mobile phase, acetonitrile-0.1% glacial acetic acid(42∶58); detection wavelength, 250(formononetin) and 310(maackiain) nm; flow rate, 1.0 mL/min; and column temperature, 30℃. [Results] Under the chromatographic conditions above, formononetin and maackiain could be completely separated from impurities. The standard curve had a good linear relationship(R~2>0.999 9). The precision and stability met analysis requirements. The average recovery rates were 97.53% and 98.54%, respectively, and the RSD values were 2.03% and 1.88%, respectively, indicating that the established method has good reproducibility, durability and accuracy. The content of formononetin was highest in the Radix Millettiae Speciosae from Yongning District, Nanning City, and the content of maackiain was highest in the Radix Millettiae Speciosae from Xichang Town, Hepu County. [Conclusions] The HPLC method established in this study is simple, accurate and stable. It can be used as a quality control method for Radix Millettiae Speciosae. The contents of flavonoids in Radix Millettiae Speciosae from Yongning District, Nanning City and Xichang Town, Hepu County were higher than those from other planting bases.

  • Determination of Inorganic Elements in Roots, Stems and Leaves of Arctium lappa L. by ICP-OES

    [Objectives] To determine the content of 20 inorganic elements in 18 samples of roots, stems and leaves from of Arctium lappa L. produced in different areas. [Methods] The wet digestion and technique of inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry(ICP-OES) were used. [Results] 20 kinds of inorganic elements in the samples of A. lappa L. roots contained rich elements essential for human beings such as K, Ca, Na, P and trace elements Cu, Fe, Zn; heavy metals Pb, As, Cu, Cd in A. lappa L. samples did not exceed the limit, and Hg was not detected in all 12 samples; heavy metals in A. lappa L. roots harvested in 12 months did not exceed the limit. [Conclusions] Compared with the roots of A. lappa L., the inorganic elements in the stems and leaves of A. lappa L. were relatively less. The samples collected from Shuimo Town in Wenchuan County of Aba Prefecture with an altitude of 920 m showed little difference from samples collected from Qiongxi Town in Hongyuan County of Aba Prefecture with an altitude of 3 505 m in 20 kinds of inorganic elements.

  • Determination of Inorganic Elements in Paris daliensis H.Li et V.G.Souku and Paris dulongensis H.Li et S.Kuritap by ICP-OES

    [Objectives] To determine 29 kinds of inorganic elements in samples of Paris daliensis H.Li et V.G.Souku and P. dulongensis H.Li et S.Kuritap produced in different regions, and to measure the content of 10 key inorganic elements: chromium(Cr), manganese(Mn), iron(Fe), copper(Cu), mercury(Hg), zinc(Zn), arsenic(As), antimony(Sr), cadmium(Cd) and lead(Pb). [Methods] The wet digestion and technique of inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES) were employed. [Results] Under the experimental conditions, elements were not related to each other, and many kinds of elements could be measured at the same time; toxic and heavy metals in samples of P. daliensis H.Li et V.G.Souku and P. dulongensis H.Li et S.Kuritap did not exceed the limit; Hg was not detected in all samples. [Conclusions] This method is simple, easy to operate and reproducible. It can be used for the detection of inorganic elements in P. daliensis H.Li et V.G.Souku and P. dulongensis H.Li et S.Kuritap; the heavy metals and Hg of the rhizome meet the requirements of the limit of medicinal materials.

    [Objectives] To screen the optimal macroporous resin for polysaccharide of Solanum nigrum L. [Methods] The polysaccharide content was taken as the indicator, and adsorption and desorption performance of 20 kinds of resin were observed and studied. [Results] Adsorption and desorption performance of 20 kinds of resin had significant difference. S-8 type macroporous resin showed the best comprehensive property. [Conclusions] S-8 type macroporous resin should be used to purify polysaccharide of S. nigrum L.

  • Extraction Process of Green Pigment from Leaves of Arctium lappa L. by Ultrasound Assisted Method and Its Stability Study

    [Objectives] The research aimed to extract green pigment from leaves of Arctium lappa L. and inspect its stability. [Methods] Ultrasound assisted method was used. [Results] Water bath temperature had little impact on green pigment, and Al~(3+), Cu~(2+), Mg~(2+) and Zn~(2+) in metal ions greatly affected green pigment, while Fe~(3+) had very little impact on the stability of green pigment. pH did not basically affect green pigment of A. lappa L. [Conclusions] The extraction rate and stability of green pigment from leaves of A. lappa L. were higher, and it was one of materials suitable for extracting green pigment.

  • Study on Infrared Fingerprints of Different Sources of Yi Medicine Ebazema

    [Objectives] To establish infrared fingerprints of different parts of Boenninghausenia albiflora(Hook.) Reichb.ex Meissn. and Boenninghausenia sessilicarpa Levl.(two sources of Yi medicine Ebazema) and analyze the similarity between them. [Methods] The infrared fingerprints of powder of B. albiflora(Hook.) Reichb.ex Meissn. and B. sessilicarpa Levl. were measured, and the common peak rate and variation peak rate of six samples were calculated to establish the sequence analysis method of common peak rate. [Results] There was a very high common peak rate(≥81.3%) and a very low variation peak rate(≤15.4%) between S1 and S4 as well as S2 and S6. There was a low common peak rate between S1 and S3 as well as S3 and S4, and the common peak rate was 42.9% and 47.6% respectively. There was a low common peak rate(≤47.6%) and a high variation peak rate(≥100.0%) between S1 and S3 as well as S3 and S4. [Conclusions] The method is simple and convenient to operate, can quickly identify different parts used as medicine of B. albiflora(Hook.) Reichb.ex Meissn. and B. sessilicarpa Levl.(two sources of Yi medicine Ebazema), and provide a new method to judge whether the two are equivalent when being used as medicine and quality evaluation.

  • Effects of Different Seedling Raising Methods on Seedling Growth of Two Kinds of Fritillaria

    [Objectives] To reveal the effects of film mulching and open ground seedling raising on the differences between Fritillaria przewalskii Maxim. and Fritillaria pallidiflora Schrenkf., find the optimal seedling raising method, and provide scientific basis for standard seedling raising technique and protecting wild resources of Fritillaria. [Methods] This experiment counted the seedling emergence number and calculated the seedling emergence indicator and the yield. [Results] The results showed that under the condition of film mulching and open ground seedling raising, the changes of Fritillaria seedlings showed an "S" curve, conforming to the Logistic equation, and the rapid growth period appeared 5-13 d after seedling emergence. Compared with the open ground seedling raising, the seedlings of F. przewalskii Maxim. and F. pallidiflora Schrenkf. raised through film mulching emerged 2-4 d earlier, and the yield increased by 56.8% and 21.71%, respectively, and the individual quality was excellent. [Conclusions] The film mulching of F. przewalskii Maxim. and F. pallidiflora Schrenkf. has great significance to protect the wild resources of Fritillaria in Eryin Mountain Area. It is recommended to adopt the film mulching method for Fritillaria seedling raising, to reduce the yield decline due to lodging, and adopt sun-shading net covering after sowing.

[Results] The scientific cultivation techniques and management points of P. heterophylla are introduced from the aspects of land selection, land preparation, seed selection, seedling nursing, timely sowing and transplanting, field management and disease and pest control. [Conclusions] This study will provide theoretical guidance for the high-quality, high-yield and high-efficiency cultivation of P. heterophylla in Shandong area.

  • Study on the Expression of Dopamine Receptor-3(DRD3) in Rats after Sacral Spinal Cord Transection

    [Objectives] This study aimed to study the distribution characteristics of DRD3(dopamine receptor-3) and the changes in its expression before and after spinal cord injury(SCI), in order to lay a morphological basis for later research. [Methods] Adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham operation group and SCI group. The rat spinal cord transection model at the sacral 2(S_2) segment was established. Rat tail spasticity score was performed 60 d after SCI, and the rats with 4-5 points were screened for perfusion. The expression of DRD3 in the sacral spinal cord(S+C segment) was detected by immunofluorescence. [Results] In normal rats, DRD3 was mainly distributed in the dorsal horn(DH), intermediate zone(IMZ) and ventral horn(VH) of the gray matter. It was also expressed in the white matter of the spinal cord. After SCI, the distribution of DRD3 in the segment below the injury section was similar to that of normal rats. However, the expression was different(P<0.05). [Conclusions] There was no significant change in the distribution of DRD3 in spinal cord after SCI. After the spinal cord S_2 was completed transected, the expression of DRD3 was significantly reduced in the DH, IMZ and VH regions of the gray matter of the spinal cord.

  • Absorption of Curcumin Monophosphate in Rat Intestinal Circulation

    [Objectives] This study aimed to study the absorption of curcumin monophosphate, a derivative of curcumin, in the small intestine of rats. [Methods] In situ recirculation perfusion technique was used to study the absorption of curcumin monophosphate in intestinal circulation of rats, and the content of curcumin monophosphate in intestinal circulation solution was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography/ultraviolet detector(HPLC/UV). [Results] The established HPLC/UV method has good specificity. Linear regression was conducted between the peak area of curcumin monophosphate(A) and the concentration of curcumin monophosphate(C). The established standard curve equation was y=30.07x+102.48(R~2=0.999 0), indicating that curcumin monophosphate has good linearity in the range of 1.25-100.00 μg/mL. After excluding the degradation of the drug and the loss of sampling, within the first 2 h of the experiment, the drug absorption in the small intestine of rat was 1.39 mg, accounting for 97.2% of the total drug absorption during the 5-h experimental period, and the absorption rate was 53.9%.[Conclusions] Curcumin monophosphate has a good absorption in the small intestine of rats.

  • Establishment of HPLC Fingerprint, Cluster Analysis and Principle Component Analysis of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride

    [Objectives] This study aimed to establish HPLC fingerprint and conduct cluster analysis and principle component analysis for Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride. [Methods] Using the HPLC method, the determination was performed on XSelect~&#x00AE; HSS T3-C_(18) column with mobile phase of acetonitrile-0.5% acetic acid solution(gradient elution) at the flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The detection wavelength was 360 nm. The column temperature was 25℃. The sample size was 10 μL. With peak of hesperidin as the reference, HPLC fingerprints of 10 batches of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride were determined. The similarity of the 10 batches of samples was evaluated by Similarity Evaluation System for Chromatographic Fingerprint of TCM(2012 edition) to determine the common peaks. Cluster analysis and principal component analysis were performed by using SPSS 17.0 statistical software. [Results] The HPLC fingerprints of the 10 batches of medicinal materials had total 11 common peaks, and the similarity was 0.919-1.000, indicating that the chemical composition of the 10 batches of medicinal materials was consistent. There were 11 common components in the 10 batches of medicinal materials, but their contents were different. When the Euclidean distance was 20, the 10 batches of samples were divided into two categories, S4 in the first category, and the others in the second one. When the Euclidean distance was 5, the second category could be further divided into two sub-categories, S1 and S10 in one sub-category, and S2, S3, S5, S6, S7, S8 and S9 in the other one. The principle component analysis showed that cumulative contribution rate of the two main component factors was 92.797%, and the comprehensive score of S7 was the highest with the best quality. [Conclusions] The results of HPLC fingerprinting, cluster analysis and principle component analysis can provide reference for the quality control of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride.

  • Survey of Temporomandibular Disorder in Male Candidates of Conscription Age

    [Objectives] To study the temporomandibular disorder(TMD) in male candidates of conscription age. [Methods] The TMD was surveyed in 2 152 young males who participated in 2015, 2016 and 2017 physical examinations for conscription in Qingzhou City, Weifang of Shandong Province. [Results] Cases with previous positive symptoms and with positive clinical signs respectively accounted for 5.02% and 18.91% of the whole respondents. Among the three major symptoms, the occurrence of clicking, accounting for 17.7% of the total case amount, ranked the first; among 407 cases with positive clinical signs, the top two symptoms were simple clicking(50.86%) and clicking with abnormal mandibular movement(36.85%). [Conclusions] TMD occurs in male candidates of conscription age with a relatively high occurrence, but most cases are mild with clicking as the major symptom.
