  • Research Progress on the Extraction Methods of Chlorogcnic Acid from FLOS LONICERAE JAPONICAE

    FLOS LONICERAE JAPONICAE,the dry buds of Lonicera japonica Thunb.,is rich in various effective components such as volatile oils,flavonoids,chlorogenic acids and triterpenes. Among them,chlorogenic acid is one of the components having the strongest pharmacological activity. At present,chlorogenic acid content is usually used as the index for the quality evaluation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the detection of effective components in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Therefore,the extraction technology for chlorogenic acid from FLOS LONICERAE JAPONICAE becomes particularly important. In this research,reports on the extraction methods of chlorogenic acid from FLOS LONICERAE JAPONICAE since 1999 were reviewed. The problems in the extraction technologies were analyzed; and the latest research trends were introduced,aiming at providing references for the in-depth research in future.

  • Research Progress of the Drying Technology of Chinese Herbal Medicine

    Drying is the first step in the process of Chinese herbal medicine,which determines the quality of Chinese herbal medicine. According to the ancient documents,research papers and results of drying technology in recent years,traditional drying methods and modern drying technology of Chinese herbal medicine were summarized. Problems existed in the drying of Chinese herbal medicine were discussed. The relationship between odor and medicinal material during drying and the loss of the pharmacodynamics material were also analyzed. It was pointed out that microwave drying could solve these problems based on odor detection.

    This article presented the research situation of antidotes in Dai medicine in recent ten years from the aspects of Dai medicine theory,classification of antidotes,effects of antidotes and clinical research,explored the mentality for research and development of Dai medicine,pointed out the direction of further systematic research in the future,including attaching importance to the development and inheritance of Dai medicine theory study,paying attention to in-depth study of medicinal properties of Dai medicine and Dai medical prescriptions,carrying out research on dosage forms of Dai medicine and research on unique treatment methods of Dai medicine and etc.

  • Herbal Verification of Medicinal Amomum tsao-ko

    As a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine,Amomum tsao-ko is of bright prospects in development and utilization. Through textual research on materia medica in previous dynasties and prescriptions,it is found that Amomum tsao-ko is often used together with the ripe fruit of Amomum para-tsaoko S. Q. Tong et Y. M. Xia. They have similar efficacy and can be used as substitutes for each other,yet the usages are slightly different among various dynasties. Philology basis for research on the variety origin and traditional functions of Amomum tsao-ko is provided.

  • Effects of Root- controlling Reagents on the Growth of Container Seedlings of Aquilaria sinensis

    [Objectve] To screen the optimal root-controlling reagents for container seedlings of Aquilaria sinensis( Lour.) Gilg,and to enhance the survival rate during transplanting. [Methods] Three different chemical reagents were selected with the concentrations being 50-200 g / L. Chemical reagents were added into emulsion,and together applied to the inner wall of black nutrition pot. The size of container was50 cm × 50 cm; and substrate ratio was turfy soil∶ perlite = 3∶ 1. After cultivated for three months,the seedling height,ground diameter,principal root length,number and length of primary lateral roots( length > 5 cm) were measured. Data treatment and analyses were carried out by Spss 16. 0 and Excel 2007 software. Effects of different concentrations of chemical reagents on the growth of container seedlings of A. sinensis were compared. [Results] All the three chemical reagents had significant effects on the seedling height,ground diameter,length of principal roots,number and length of primary lateral roots of A. sinensis. Chemical reagents had shortening effects on the average lengths of principal roots and primary lateral roots,and enhanced the number of primary lateral roots. The influencing degrees of three chemical reagents on the growth of container seedlings of A. sinensis were in the order of CuC O3> AlC l3> ZnC l2. Adding 100- 150 g / L CuC O3 could control the lengths of principal roots and primary lateral roots and enhance the number of primary lateral roots. Therefore,100- 150 g / L CuC O3 was selected. [Conclusions] Adding 100- 150 g / L CuC O3 effectively controlled the root system of container seedlings,and enhanced the survival rate during transplanting of A. sinensis.

Chemical Composition of Natural Medicine

  • Extraction,Purification and Chemical Structure of Polysaccharides in Dicliptera chinensis

    [Objective] To research on the extraction,purification and chemical structure of polysaccharides in Dicliptera chinensis( L.)Ness. [Methods] Polysaccharides were extracted from D. chinensis by combining the water extraction method with the Sevag deproteinization method and ethanol extraction method. D. chinensis polysaccharides were purified by DEAE-52 cellulose chromatography and Sephadex G-150 chromatography. Based the detection of the impurity,the monosaccharide composition of D. chinensis polysaccharides was analyzed. [Results]The purified polysaccharides were pure polysaccharide components. Infrared spectrogram showed that D. chinensis polysaccharides had typical structure of polysaccharides. Analysis of gas chromatography found out that D. chinensis polysaccharides were mainly composed of fucose,arabinose,xylose,mannose,glucose and galactose. [Conclusions]The extraction,purification and detection methods in this research were rapid,accurate and stable,which provided foundation for the activity research of D. chinensis polysaccharides in future.

  • Effects of Pulverization on Components and the Content of Volatile Oil in Zanthoxylum schinifolium Sieb. et Zucc.

    [Objective] To study effects of conventional pulverization on the content and components of volatile oil in Zanthoxylum schinifolium Sieb. et Zucc. [Methods]Contents of volatile oil in Zanthoxylum schinifolium Sieb. et Zucc. of different pulverization degree were measured,and compositions of different extracted volatile oil were analyzed and compared by gas chromatography- mass spectrometry( GC- MS).[Results]Compared with that in the whole grain,the loss of volatile oil in fine powder( 80 mesh,national standard) was as high as 34. 2%,mainly being the loss of the enol compounds; the content of volatile oil was relatively less influenced by coarse powder( 10 mesh),chemical components isolated from which were the most,and the aroma components of which were also richer. [Conclusion] The finer the powder of Zanthoxylum schinifolium Sieb. et Zucc. is,the more the volatile oil loss is,yet appropriate grinding is in favor of the emission of aroma components.

Pharmacological and Toxicological Analyses

  • Inhibitory Effects of Polyphenols from Pinus koraiensis Seed Scale on the Proliferation of Human Cancer Cells in Vitro

    [Objective] To research on the inhibitory effects of polyphenols from Pinus koraiensis seed scale on the proliferation of human cancer cells in vitro. [Methods] Polyphenols from Pinus koraiensis seed scale were prepared into extracting solutions at different concentrations. Suspension cultures of five tumor cells were processed,which were lung carcinoma cell A549,human bone marrow neuroblastoma cell SH-SY5 Y,human skin cancer cell A375,human hepatocarcinoma cell HepG-2 and human ovarian cancer cell SKOV3. Inhibitory rate of cell proliferation in vitro was detected by MTT method. [Results] P. koraiensis polyphenols had relatively good inhibitory effects on A549,showing certain correlation with time or concentration. The inhibitory rare was the optimal when the concentration of P. koraiensis polyphenols was0. 4 mg / mL. Under this concentration,the inhibitory rate of extracting solution of P. koraiensis polyphenols reached 55% on lung carcinoma cell A549. P. koraiensis polyphenols showed no significant inhibitory effects on SH-SY5 Y,A375,HepG 2 or SKOV3. [Conclusions] P. koraiensis polyphenols had inhibitory effects on lung carcinoma cells.

  • Anti-bacterial Effects in Vitro of Jinweng Zhili Granules and Its Antipyretic and Anti-inflammatory Effects on Animal

    [Objective] To research the anti-bacterial effects in vitro of Jinweng Zhili Granules and its antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects on animal. [Methods]Anti-bacterial effects of Jinweng Zhili Granules were detected by MIC method and drug sensitive test. A total of60 male Kunming mice were randomly divided into blank control group,aspirin group,low-dosage group of Jinweng Zhili Granules,middledosage group of Jinweng Zhili Granules,and high-dosage group of Jinweng Zhili Granules. Mice were given drugs by gavage for 7 d. Swelling degree of ear slice was calculated and the anti-inflammatory effects were analyzed. A total of 60 rabbits were randomly divided into high-dosage group of Jinweng Zhili Granules,middle-dosage group of Jinweng Zhili Granules,low-dosage group of Jinweng Zhili Granules,positive drug group,blank control group and model group. Endotoxin was administrated through the ear venous in order to establish febrile model. Effects of Jinweng Zhili Granules on the body temperature of febrile rabbits induced by endotoxin were analyzed. Blood was collected by heart blood collection method. When the plasma was separated,cA MP content in rabbits were detected. [Results] The MIC values to Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus,Clostridium welchii,Salmonella typhimurium,Candida albicans were 3. 75,1. 875,15,7. 5 and 7. 5 mg / mL,respectively. The swelling degree of mice slice in model group reached 121. 7%. And the swelling degrees in high- and middle-dosage groups of Jinweng Zhili Granules were 55. 6% and 56. 2%,respectively,which had extremely significant differences with that of model group( P < 0. 01).Jinweng Zhili Granules reduced the body temperature of febrile rabbits induced by endotoxin. The cA MP content in model group was 34. 13 pmol / mL; and the cA MP contents in high-and low-dosage groups were 24. 74 and 26. 61 pmol / mL,respectively,which had extremely significant differences compared with model group( P < 0. 01). [Conclusions]Jinweng Zhili Granules had anti-bacteria,anti-inflammation and antipyretic effects.

Processing of Traditional Chinese Medicineand Quality Control

  • Extraction Technology of Total Flavonoids from Vitex quinata by Orthogonal Test

    [Objective] To establish a reasonable extraction technology for total flavonoids from Vitex quinata,and to provide theoretical basis for the development and utilization of V. quinata. [Methods]Ethanol concentration,ethanol dosage,extracting times and extracting time were taken as the investigation factors. Extraction technology was optimized by orthogonal test with the content of total flavonoids in V. quinata as the index. [Results] The optimal extraction technology was as follows: 70% ethanol,1∶ 12( W / V) solid-liquid ratio,three extraction times and1 h for each extraction. [Conclusions]This extraction technology was simple,stable and effective,and was suitable for the extraction of total flavonoids.

  • Optimization of Extraction Technique of Ganmai Dazao Decoction by Response Surface Methodology( RSM)

    [Objective] The research aimed to optimize the extraction technique of Ganmai Dazao Decoction. [Methods]The single-factor experiment was conducted with four factors( solvent dosage,soak time,boiling time and extraction temperature) that affected the extraction rate of traditional Chinese medicine,then based on the results,the response surface analysis was conducted with the selected three foremost factors( liquid ratio,extraction time and temperature),the optimum process conditions were obtained. [Results]The optimum extraction process determined in the study was as follows: liquid ratio was 1∶15. 79,extraction time 80 min,extraction temperature 60 ℃ and the maximum extraction rate of flavonoids was estimated to be 0. 108 5%. [Conclusions]The theoretical value estimated in the study was identical with the measured value,and the process conditions can be used to guide the extraction of Ganmai Dazao Decoction.
